Vitebsk State Medical University is one of the most distinguished higher medical institutions in the Republic of Belarus. VSMU was established in 1934 as a hospital-cum-medical institute. So far, the University has trained more than 14,000 physicians and 6000 pharmacists. Currently, more than 6 000 students are trained at the university, including 1100 foreign students from 30 countries all over the world. There are about 50 students from India.
VSMU provides a high level of education compatible with European standards with 10:1 students-to-staff ratio. Courses are offered in English language.
15 hospitals and medical centers are clinical sites of the university where students have practical training. The university has an electronic library with high-speed internet access of scientific medical materials and world database.
Courses offered :
MBBS (General Medicine) : Duration of study - 6 years (full-time)
Stomatology: Duration of study - 5 years (full time)
Pharmacy: Duration of study - 5 years (full time)
Entrance Test: The student will be tested in Biology, Chemistry and English and the required result should be no less than 50 % in each subject. The test will normally be conducted in India. Those not able to qualify the test has the option to attend a 8-10 month preparatory course which will prepare the students attain desired level in various subjects and after which the student will be able to join the main course.
Approximate expenditure for studying at VSMU
Tuition : USD 4,700 per annum
Hostel : USD 850 per annum
Insurance, medical exam and registration : USD 350 per annum
Living expenses without/with private accommodation, food, transportation etc. USD 250-500 pm (USD 3000-6000 per annum)
Total : USD 8900 (in hostel); USD 11300 (in private accommodation) per annum
