MBBS COURSE
The four medical universities in Belarus offer MBBS course to foreign students in English language. However, the students must also simultaneously learn Russian for the first two years to be ready to interact with the local population during clinical training. The duration of the course is 6 years without internship. Foreign students on completion of the course normally return to their home countries and complete their internship there. The academic session in Belarus commences in September.
The courses of study offered by the universities are very intensive and demand full attention and participation of students. Attending all classes is mandatory and in case someone misses a class, he/she is expected to make up for it by attending a special class which will be organized by the university, most of the time on payment of a very nominal extra charge. This is to encourage students to be sincere and not miss classes on casual grounds.
Degrees offered by Belarusian universities are recognized by Medical Council of India as well as by many European countries. But to be able to practice in India, a Belarusian MBBS degree holder must pass the Foreign Medical Graduate Screening Test conducted by National Board of Examination of India. Similarly, a student must pass the examination prescribed by the official medical boards of other countries if they are interested in pursuing further studies or work there as medical practitioner.
